Austrian God successfully pilot production of polyimide fiber can capture PM2.5 particles

Aoshen New Materials Co., Ltd., located in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, successfully produced polyimide fibers (PI fibers). This new type of fiber can efficiently trap PM2.5 particles at high temperatures and protect the air from contamination. The product will provide key core materials for the environmental protection industry after the full implementation of the country's latest Ambient Air Quality Standard.

Jiangsu Aoshen Group seized strategic opportunities and invested in the establishment of Jiangsu Aoshen New Material Co., Ltd. in 2011. It jointly developed polyimide fibers with Donghua University. The trial-produced polyimide fiber project has a total investment of 500 million yuan, adopts dry spinning and integrated production technology with independent intellectual property rights, and has high production efficiency, good product uniformity, and high solvent recovery. In addition, the project team also successfully developed a complete set of polyimide fiber production equipment.

It is reported that during the implementation of the project, two patents for spinneret for dry-spinning polyimide shaped fibers and a cyclization device for polyimide fibers have been obtained. This kind of carbon nanotube/polyimide composite fiber has a monopoly license.

In February this year, the newly released “Ambient Air Quality Standard” specifically increased the monitoring index of PM2.5, which will be fully implemented in 2016. Polyimide fiber is a strategic new material that the country encourages to develop during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period and civilian high-tech fiber products are urgently needed.
