Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Egypt approved the adoption of five new textile standards aimed at strengthening product quality, ensuring consumer health and safety.
The above five technical standards were formulated by the General Administration of Quality and Standards of Egypt. They mainly deal with the use of hazardous substances in textile processes, involving dyed yarns, dyeing and printing cloths, garments, bedding and carpets imported and produced locally. The standard transition period lasts until December of this year. only.
The new standard specifically includes:
First, lead content of children's clothing shall not exceed 300ppm;
2. It is forbidden to use 23 kinds of azo dyes and 9 other types of carcinogenic dyes;
Third, infant clothing formaldehyde content shall not exceed 20ppm;
(4) Formaldehyde content of adult clothing directly contacting the skin does not exceed 75ppm;
Fifth, non-direct contact with skin clothing formaldehyde content shall not exceed 300ppm.
