Yang Jinchun, the full-time vice president of the China Garment Association, said that school uniforms are a relatively fast-growing segment of China's apparel industry in recent years, and they have relatively bright performance in industrial upgrading and market feedback. Especially in 2015, after the release and implementation of China's first school uniform national standard, the process of survival of the fittest of the school uniform production enterprise accelerated, and the overall quality of school uniform product quality improved significantly.
At present, the number of primary and secondary school students in our school has exceeded 200 million. School uniforms have been the "second skin" worn by primary and secondary school students for a long time, and their quality and safety have been receiving much attention. In June 2015, China's first national standard for primary and secondary school clothing—GB/T31888-2015 “Small and Medium School Clothes†was introduced and implemented, which not only filled the blank of the uniform standards of school uniforms, but also achieved the standard of uniforms and international standards.
Xu Lu, one of the drafters of the Standards for Primary and Secondary Schools, Director of the Standards Center of the Textile Industry Standardization Institute, and Xu Lu, Secretary General of the National Standards Committee of the National Textile Standards Committee, said that the GB/T31888 standard has general safety requirements, inherent quality and external quality. All other requirements have reached the international advanced level.
"In order to improve the quality of uniforms, we require relevant technical indicators in the standard setting, and only set a basic threshold." Xu Lu said, "We also broke the woven, knitting boundaries and inherent systems, from the end use. In terms of technical requirements, she said that some of the technical details of the regulations catered to the public's demand for uniforms, which prompted the school uniforms to introduce new technologies that were only used in international high-end children's wear.
Some of the standard school uniforms exhibited at the exhibition use 100% recyclable fabrics, which are natural and environmentally friendly, and do not contain any harmful substances. The other school uniforms are aimed at the characteristics of primary and secondary school students. They adopt international advanced coating technology, waterproof and antifouling. At the same time as oil-proof, it can be washed at high temperature and free from ironing, without special care, which greatly reduces the burden on parents.

The improvement of school uniform standards not only brings greater space for large-scale brand enterprises, but also promotes the improvement of quality management concepts. According to reports, the local fiber inspection departments have explored some effective methodological mechanisms to promote the implementation of standards. Among them, the Shanghai Fiber Inspection Department has broken the mindset of “cat-and-mouse relationship†with school uniform enterprises and promoted the improvement of the quality of local school uniforms.

With the liberalization of the two-child policy, the total number of students in the future will show an overall upward trend.
